Qualifications Scotland is the national body responsible for creating, awarding, and regulating qualifications for learners in Scotland, across the UK, and internationally. Established under the Education (Scotland) Act 2025, it works closely with industry experts, educators, and learners to ensure its qualifications equip people with the skills, knowledge, and recognition needed to progress in learning or work.

Its independent accreditation function approves and regulates awarding bodies and qualifications in Scotland, maintaining high standards that are rigorous, fair, and consistent. Qualifications Scotland is committed to providing equal opportunities for all learners, including those who use British Sign Language (BSL), have educational support needs, come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, or speak Gaelic or Scots.

The organisation is actively reviewing and reforming qualifications and assessments to make them more relevant, inclusive, and modern, including the introduction of digital assessment and the reduction of unnecessary external exams. Its qualifications, offered internationally, include SQA Advanced Qualifications, Professional Development Awards (PDAs), and customised awards for businesses, supporting learners and professionals worldwide.
